Zillow is seeking an energetic individual who has great technical skills and the ability to understand and manage data workflows. Extra-ordinary written and verbal communication skills are needed as you will be in constant contact with internal stake holders and external partners while supporting our data feed programs. The ideal candidate is interested in working with a multi-tiered system while being exposed to hundreds of external partners. Being highly organized is required to be successful in this position. Essential Duties: · Work from a prioritized list to process and promote partner feeds into our live data store through data intake systems · Troubleshoot issues in the feed intake systems and provide appropriate feedback to development, business, operations, and external partners · Formally track and work tasks from a ticket queue · Provide regular status reports and updates · Translate business requests into actionable tasks in the feed system · Ramp up on the full Broker and Newspaper Feed systems o Feed intake o Business logic on our site for display and ad serving o Partner or internal escalation Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: · Ability to follow established policies and procedures · Strong communication skills and the ability to describe both technical and business problems · Self starter with solid analytical and problem solving skills · Able to work at times in “interrupt mode“ · Work in fast paced business critical areas · Work at a technical level with a complex system · Ability to work with data processing (XML) · Ability to debug a multi-tier system (client, server, database) · SQL skills to debug issues in a relational database or ability to use established SQL queries to debug issues · Ability to work with command line and UI tools to complete work · Ability to communicate technical issues to less technical Education/Experience: · 1 to 2 years working in a fast paced, internet savvy company · 6 months or more experience working with a data processing workflow · Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent experience. CS, Math, Economics or other Engineering fields · 6 months to 1 year experience with Unix, Linux systems and shell environments · 1 – 2 years experience with windows operating systems and MS Office tools (Word, Excel) · Experience with simple database queries · Prior experience with FTP and SSH is a plus
