Zillow is a data-driven organization and, as such, the Data Analyst is front-and-center in the life-blood of the company. We need a strong team player with a unique set of skills and interests: the data query skills of a programmer/analyst, the documentation and organizational skills of a program manager, the investigative skills of a tester, and it wouldn’t hurt to have the analytic prowess of a marketing analyst. The Data Analyst will support both the business and development teams by helping to better understand our data, document issues and drive resolution, understand the desired level of data cleanliness and drive us and our data partners to this level. Great position that can grow in many possible directions as our team here grows. Must love data, fixing problems, and getting things done.

Responsibilities: 

• Investigation of quality of data from third-party providers
• Discovery and documentation of data cleansing requirements
• Issue tracking/resolution with third-party data providers
• Implementation of routine tracking of data quality/latency from data providers
• Investigation and documentation of integration of data from disparate sources
• Ad hoc analyses on real estate and site usage data for internal customers
• Assist with analyses supporting regular real estate analyses for external customers

Qualifications:

• Must have strong knowledge of SQL (preferably MS SQL) and data base structures, including ability to query large volumes of data. Won’t be frustrated working in challenging data environments typified by complex, fragmented and/or nascent data storage and access capabilities.
• Good documentation skills. Can create documentation on data hygiene/quality/latency that is actionable by others.
• Excellent data and analytical skills. Ability to analyze data and translate into actionable insights which can be easily understood and utilized by the entire organization.
• Strong organizational skills. Can track issues and work with other parties to resolve issues.
• Superior communication and interpersonal skills.
• High energy and creativity; openness to new ideas/approaches; willingness to be flexible and do whatever you can to bring value to the team.
